I’ve fallen in love with this pattern since I first saw it in Love Sewing Magazine, more or less two years ago. I liked the interesting style lines.
I’ve gotten around to make it a few months later, but at the time it was too curve hugging for me – not small, just too revealing. So I wore it maybe a couple of times and that’s it. Now that my body shape has changed, it is quite big for me, but I’m wearing it more often, especially since it is such a nice dress for the office.
The fabric is a brown cotton with some elastanne, so it is even more comfortable. I bought it at Remanant Kings in Edinburgh, such good memories of this shop! The fabric is quite rigid, and works great for this shape.
The peculiarity of the design is a false over-top which is sewn into the dress itself at the back darts, and hungs freely at the front. It enhances the waistline creating a slimming effect. The over-top has short kimono sleeves.
The other main characteristic is the square neckline, at front and back, which is something I truly like. All in all, I’m happy with this dress, maybe one day I’ll get to fit it better to my new shape.
