Recently I have had the occasion to meet the French pattern designer behind Eglantine et Zoé, and I have tested the recently published robe Sarbacane.
It is the perfect party dress, with flattering princess seams, a full circle skirt and a choice of three flirty back views. I have chosen view 2, in size 44.
I have started with no modifications, but ended up removing quite a lot of cm. around the bodice because of my fabric: it is a textured cotton with some elasthanne, while the pattern is designed for non elastic fabrics.
I like the combination of the Sarbacane dress with my wild print, which adds to the party look. I must confess I have worn this at the office as well, with my Miette cardigan on top. I had bought the fabric in the Netherlands back in February.
It is particularly remarkable how the front has a modest look, while the back adds some sexy details. I already envision a version 3 blouse for special occasions.
The pattern offers a good range of choices, for a blouse or a dress, and I can assure you that Zoé has carefully thought every detail, along with thorough and clear instructions and a step-by-step video tutorial. It has been a pleasant testing experience and I hope to try more of her designs.
