In the past months I have cooperated with Nicoletta at DiNuvoleDiCuori for an Italian to French translation. She is such a kind-hearted person she offered me to chose one of her patters. My choice has been Stellina la Copertina to make as a present for a few newborns.
The pattern comes in two sizes: 0-6 and 6-12 months, and has a nice little price. I have made the small size for my friend Alice’s baby that we are expecting in July. Alice passed by Toulouse last weekend and I took the chance to give her this little handmade present for her baby boy.
She loved the idea of having something expecially made for him, and in general she was touched by the cuteness of the gift.
Stellina is a star-shaped blankie, which I instead made as a mini-bathrobe. I used white cotton sponge bought in Toto Tissus in Toulouse, quite soft, and finished the seams with some vibrant green bias tape. The result is very cute, and will be easy to wash over and over.
The pattern is easy to construct and the explanations are clear, in Italian and in English. Nicoletta and Silvia of Kimsoo did a great job, as usual!
I had some scraps of white sponge left, so I just cut a few washclothes and made a mocked overlock stitch all around the hems. This was a perfect occasion to use up some thread leftovers, for a colourful addition to my bathroom.
